Now you see it...
When President Rick says, "I have a special guest coming, you won't want to miss it!" - We should all pay heed. Today's meeting was no exception. We were dazzled by a master of illusion as Bruce Meyers levitated a table with his iron will, and baffled us with his wit. Music, being magical, had us mezmerized as we watched the master of the Shinoqua Down played for us for the very first time - thanks Cindy for showing us how talented you are. We were all excited at the possibility of watching a cup of water dousing John M. during his purity dance - but our hopes were foiled as somehow the dance proved truly miraculous when his cup was pure, clean & dry. Thanks to everyone who attended and played their instruments. Special thanks to Bruce and his assistant the Maestro. The next time President Rick says, "You Won't Want To Miss This Meeting", I'll bet we have a full house. by

Where is our Flock of Fine Feathered Friends?
Missing in Action, last I heard! Some how, they were surgically, or magically separated from their legs and disappeared! Will they magically appear at this week's meeting? Only our resident constable knows for sure. by

Guest Speaker: Andrea Peterson, Teacher of the Year
Our special guest this morning was the national teacher of the year. Andrea Peterson teaches in the Granite Falls School District, and was chosen by President Bush as this year's recipient. Her demeaner was impressive and personal, as she told us how the selection was made. As an Arts teacher in music, her claim to fame has been to write musicals around lesson plans so that students could enjoy learning. She shared one example of success where students had a 60% pass rate in one chapter of the history curriculum, but after she put the story of Lewis & Clark to music, there was a 100% pass rate. Some of the special guests in attendance included Past District Governor Harv Jubie, Governor-Designee Larry Jubie, Asst. Dist. Gov. Bonnie George. as well as Granite Falls School District Superintendent Joel Thaut (who taught my economics class at Lake Stevens High school) and spouses of Rotarians. It was a good showing of guests, and a great speaker. by

Banquet a Success!
We watched as outgoing President Kathy Little bestowed the honors on her board and announced Tracy DeLorm as our 2006-07 Rotarian of the Year - Congratulations Tracy! The food was wonderful at the Holiday Inn, one of the best we've ever had. The entertainment was enjoyed by all, some showed their appreciation by applause, some by laughing and others by cringing. Dick & Tommy put on a good show and the rewrite of Friends in Rotary was no surpise by the 'balladeer'. I think Ed deserves a toast for supporting actor, especially for the endurance of embarassment. Incoming President Rick Bond took the invisible gavel and gave us a glimpse of the year to come. The outfit he wore, compliments of Kathy, was a nice touch. We're all looking forward to another great year. Thanks, Kathy, for keeping us on track and bringing us through 06-07. by

Rotary Meeting
Ken Withrow & Laura Kipp got to spin the wheel this week and collect their prizes for being top sellers of duck dash tickets the past two weeks. Our speaker was John Gebert, who gave a presentation on the new "Mid-High" that opens in the fall. Scott Smith announced this morning that we have already sold more duck dash tickets than the total of last year's sales. by

Rotary Meeting
Our guests from Turkey shared a video presentation of their country. Flags were exchanged and they shared with us of their home country, and how their impression of Americans has changed since meeting them in person. It seems that the influence of the movie industry has a bigger impact than we could imagine. by
